Handyman in
Clapham.
Clapham SW4 is a regular run from my side of South London. The streets around the Common and Abbeville Road are full of handsome Victorian terraces and mansion flats — period homes that keep a handyman busy with the steady list of jobs they generate.
Clapham is firmly on my SW patch, and SW4 keeps me busy through the year. The housing around the Common, Old Town and Abbeville Road is mostly Victorian — bay-fronted terraces, converted flats and mansion blocks, with the usual century of settlement and previous DIY behind the walls.
What SW4 homes usually need
In the period terraces it’s careful decorating with proper prep, carpentry and fitted storage scribed to walls that are rarely square, sash window easing and draught-proofing, and rehanging doors that have dropped. In Clapham’s many converted flats it’s flat-pack assembly, shelving and TV mounting fixed securely into stud walls, boxing in pipework, and the small repairs that come with a change of tenant or owner.
Every job starts with a written quote and there’s no call-out fee for coming to look. I work tidily and leave the place clean — which, in a busy converted house, the other flats appreciate.
